DEVELOPMENT HISTORY

Genopets is an innovative move-to-earn online role-playing game built on the Solana Blockchain with a focus on linking your mental and physical wellness to your in-game progression. Benjamin Tse and Albert Chen are the two brilliant minds behind this engaging game. They’ve both been in the profession for many years. Since 2016, Tse has concentrated on the blockchain, having experience with SaaS, UI/UX, and product design. Chen, on the other hand, is a business owner with extensive experience in marketing, economics, and engineering.

Over two investment rounds, Genopets raised a total of $8.3 million. The company's most recent funding came from a Seed round on July 7, 2022. As of right now, the project is in an open beta development stage, centered on the minting of your first Genopet and allowing players to level up through banking steps. Later on, Genoverse will be available for players to explore in 2023.

GAMEPLAY SUMMARY

In Genopets, being active is only the beginning of the game. Every day, players will be rewarded for their daily activity by converting their accumulated steps into Energy, the game's primary resource. The foundation of Genopets is the relationship you have with your digital pet, whose evolution and development are intrinsically related to your own. Energy is the base “currency” from which all in-game actions must ultimately be funded but it is important to note that Energy is not a token. Energy is necessary in order for you to do the following:

• Perform Nurture actions (e.g., Feeding, Grooming, Playing)
• Level up (by converting Energy into XP)
• Harvest in-game Token (by converting Energy into in-game tokens with a Habitat)
• Alchemize (Craft) items and augments
• [In the future] Perform battle actions
• [In the future] Participate in PvE quests and challenges

Minigames in Genopets are centered around feeding, playing, and showing affection to your pet which elevates its mood. Happier Genopets will store Energy at a more efficient rate. Meanwhile, acquiring a Habitat expands your gameplay possibilities. Owners of habitats can generate additional in-game NFTs, craft things to use or upgrade and personalize your Genopet's appearance and skills.

 EARNING POTENTIAL

Genopets operates on a dual-token system that includes $GENE and $KI tokens, each with its own function in the game. $GENE is the governance and staking token used for Genesis NFT sales, seasonal drops, and game crafting. $KI is an in-game currency that can be used to purchase items. Now, there are different ways to earn while playing the Genopets game; Free players earn by:

Paid players earn by:

• Continuously generating $KI from daily activities
• Selling other in-game items like Habitats, Crystals, and more

OVERALL IMPRESSION

Genopets is a move-to-earn game that lets you take care and explore with your Genopet. The concept of this Pokemon-looking game where players take care of their Genopets while taking care of themselves seems to be a great idea. I like how this game encourages users to lead a more active lifestyle, instead of spending hours on a tedious grind in front of the computer.

I commend the developers for creating this move-to-earn game that pays homage to the nostalgia of taking care of our Tamagotchi and the evolving and battling of our Pokémon. So should you hop in this project? Well, why not! You have yourself some cool-looking digital spirit animal and an incentive to exercise. But then again, this new, unique style, Move-to-Play may not be enticing to everybody, especially with the epidemic still being present and all.
