Neon District: Earn Money By Delivering Virtual Pizzas?

Delivering virtual pizzas as an NFT game? Yes, you read it right! Neon District is a role-playing (RPG) game that lets you earn money by delivering virtual pizza 🍕

What is Neon District?

Blockade Games released Neon District, a cyberpunk-style role-playing game, in January 2021. The game, based on Polygon, enables users to sell NFT in-game goods on  marketplaces such as OpenSea or Arkane Market.

Neon District is a free-to-play game with the potential for earning money with blockchain technology. You create four-person teams and deliver pizzas to earn Neon, the game's currency. You can also ambush other players to steal their Neon. Neon is used to buy weapons, armor, upgrade your team, and loot boxes (Gear Crates). Upgrading your characters and gear will add value to help make your team's missions easier.

Game Highlights:

  • Free-to-Play: Neon District gives you a character and 300 NEON to form a team of 4, enough to start playing immediately.
  • Built on Polygon: Polygon allows for low gas fees and faster transactions.
  • Simple Gameplay: The game is simple, your team handles their shift passively in the background and combat is handled automatically through AI.

How do I start playing Neon District?

Getting started in the game is quite easy. You register and you're set! No need for connecting your wallet or whatnot, you can do so later. You’re first introduced to a list of characters to choose from, getting one free and 300 Neon provided to buy 3 more characters, completing a full team of 4.

Gameplay:

So how does delivering pizza come into play? You earn Neon, Juice, and Parts by doing pizza delivery shifts. These resources are used to upgrade your current characters and gear or buy new characters to form another team. Another route you could take is ambushing other players’ teams to steal their Neon while they are on their delivery shifts. So while the game is free, consistently playing and upgrading your NFTs will be key to earning more. Although, this feature is only open after you’ve progressed a bit in the game.

Neon District is almost like a management game. These missions could be done in a short amount of time, so it’s a passive game. Your team will need monitoring in the later stages of progressing, as other players tend to ambush teams with higher Neon earnings. You could prevent all this by giving your team better gear, helping them in battle.

How do I start earning?

You can earn by selling in-game assets you’ve acquired and upgraded. You get these assets by opening loot boxes (Gearboxes). After that, you can start listing these items in OpenSea or Arkane Market for potential buyers. These assets could also add value if you upgrade them, so start upgrading those gears and start listing!

Here are the ways to earn money:

  • Delivering pizzas — Make pizza deliveries to customers to earn Neon.
  • Ambush players — Other players can be ambushed in order to steal their Neon once you reach Tier 2.
  • Sell in-game assets — You can upgrade your in-game assets to raise their worth before listing them for sale on NFT marketplaces.

Final Thoughts:

The game itself is very passive; I've played countless Idle Games, and aesthetic-wise this game is better than what I've seen so far. The game's premise is nice and straightforward, and I love the cyberpunk theme. Progression is quite slow, but that's negligible because the game is pretty passive. I didn’t experience any significant problems in the game. Still, it's not an outstanding game either, since there's little gameplay to be had if you're only planning to earn. I think it could have potential as a P2E game because it's built on Polygon. The assets you get from the game could be sold in big marketplaces such as OpenSea, and Arkane. It's definitely worth a try for those interested in the cyberpunk genre and even for casual players due to its idle nature. I would rate it as 77/100 if you know what I mean. 🍕😂
