For you to be able to play the game, you first need to buy some $FEED tokens, $ACF tokens, and at least two Chicken NFTs from the marketplace. Using the token, you may now need to build a barn-space that can house up to 3 chickens. A barn-space costs 1 $ACF Token at the time of writing. After you have built your barn-space, you need to take care of your chickens just like a real-world pet. Then to prepare a chicken for breeding, you need to increase the fertility of your chicken. This is done by “Feeding the chickens'' through 1 $FEED token per day. The chickens have to be fed for 7 days without miss, and that increases the fertility stat. After one breeding, the fertility of each Chicken drops, and the Chicken needs to be fed again for 7 days to make it fertile again. The fee to breed a Chicken pair is 1 $ACF Token. In the game you can also choose “culling” wherein you can obtain a reward of 20 $FEED token. Your Alien Chicken also has superpowers but at the time of writing there’s no information about PVP in the game yet.
$ACF Tokens: This is the utility token of the game which is used to breed Alien chickens. This token has two key objectives which is to reward players and decentralize the ownership and governance of the game.
$FEED Tokens: This serves the utility of feeding chickens. This token is designed to have an infinite supply. The uses and the earning mechanism of this token will be disclosed further in the future.
The graphics and art style of Alien Chicken Farm almost has this retro-style graphic and art style that capture the nostalgic feel of classic video games. However, what makes the art in Alien Chicken Farm truly out of this world is its vividly colorful and playful alien chicken design. Each of the chickens have their own unique quirky and fantastical elements, like an alien chicken that can fly in the air and some that have laser eyes. These unique quirks and alien aesthetics make them a joy to interact with and care for.
The game made me excited with the first look but unfortunately, I was disappointed with the gameplay. While the idea of raising and caring for alien chickens sounded interesting, the execution fell short. Based on the whitepaper, it seems like there were only a limited number of tasks to do which can make the game quickly become monotonous. I was hoping for more variety in terms of different challenges to overcome or some information about how battles will unfold in the game. Sadly, the current game version felt very one-dimensional and I think it will not hold my attention for very long.
In the end, the only thing extraterrestrial about this game was the alien chickens themselves. Unfortunately, the lackluster gameplay left me feeling more earthbound than ever. I'm not saying I wouldn't give it another go, but only if the chickens learn to fly and the game itself sprouts a few more feathers. Until then, I'll keep looking for more egg-citing options in the gaming universe.
