Chumbi Valley: An Upcoming Pokémon ala Stardew Valley Game

When you thought the cutest stuff in the Plants vs. Zombies and Axie Infinity world were the small ball-shaped monsters or the plants with their own individual designs, then you'll be pleasantly surprised by Chumbi Valley. So, if you enjoy games where you fight monsters and go on adventures, such as Pokemon, or if you'd rather kick back and relax by tending a farm or raising a pet, or if you've played Ni No Kuni and you just want to see those adorable Higgledies in action, then you might be interested in Chumbi Valley.

GAMEPLAY SUMMARY

You will spawn in a house somewhere in a mythical forest and you’ll spend your time raising creatures called Chumbi. The Chumbi are a lovable species of bipedal woodland dwellers that inhabit a secret and magical valley covered in thick vegetation. They employ magic to keep the forest healthy and safe because of the deep spiritual bond they share with it. A sort of career mode will be included in the game where you may level up your Chumbi by battling against wild Chumbi and other people. Meanwhile, the happiness level of Chumbis can be raised with the use of food. Together, you and this Chumbi may farm, fight, explore, and earn a wide variety of other rewards.

OVERALL IMPRESSION

Chumbi Valley is an enchanting role-playing game whose gameplay is heavily inspired by classics such as Zelda, Stardew Valley and Pokémon. Meanwhile, its visual gives a refreshing feeling and nostalgic vibe as it reminds me of Studio Ghibli. The convincing graphics and the seemingly immersive nature of its gameplay gives me an impression that this game may provide a really enjoyable experience full of endless possibilities. Moreover, what I also like about the game is that it has a scholarship system where you can rent your Chumbi to other players.

Many are excited for this game which was initially expected to be out in 2022. Unfortunately, it’s pushed back and the game is still in its pre-alpha. This is because the developers had to terminate their contract with two development studios since according to them the delivered product is not up to the team’s expectations. This has made them lose a couple of months and now they need to build Chumbi Valley from scratch themselves.

As someone who has evaluated a number of web3 games that place an emphasis solely on the monetization aspect with limited and strenuous gameplay, I can say that Chumbi Valley is unlike any other P2E game as it stepped up to these aspects. The game looks promising with its strong Pokemon battle vibes and Stardew Valley-like farming. If this makes you excited then you better look out for this project!
